SAP data migration & manufacturing IT: interfaces from ERP to machine control
Profile
Application manager for the system landscape of a manufacturing site: at the plant since 2018, in full-time responsibility since 2021. Planned and executed the data migration in four SAP projects across Germany and the US, most recently end to end: wrote the scripts myself and delivered around 25 load-ready objects in MM, PP, SD and WM/LE. Built the machine integrations in T-SQL myself; with my AI-assisted knowledge base they now take days instead of weeks.
Experience

IT Project Manager & IT Application Manager
Walterscheid GmbH (Comer Industries) · Lohmar, Germany
Application ownership for the Lohmar site's system landscape (approx. 700 employees; Comer Industries group with approx. 3,900 worldwide), plus data migration in the international Germany/US ERP program: before the acquisition by Comer Industries, the sites ran on different ERP systems; they were harmonized onto one shared SAP system as the basis for the group-wide S/4HANA transition. Project work here means mid-size delivery projects for manufacturing that I build myself, not classic project management.
- Planned and executed the data migration in four SAP projects (2022–2026): from an equal two-person team in the first to end-to-end ownership in the fourth. Moved approx. 14M master and transactional records from FourthShift (Infor) to SAP R/3; wrote the scripts myself and handed over load-ready files for the external SAP consultants' LSMW loads.
- Built an AI-assisted knowledge base on my own initiative: a daily mirror copies every database definition (DDL) into a Git repository via PowerShell, structured per application and readable by LLMs. Instead of maintaining docs by hand, interfaces are now built on top of it together with Claude: one machine integration took 2 days instead of about 4 weeks.
- Delivered approx. 25 migration objects: material master, BOMs, routings, work centers, production orders, stock, handling units, customer and vendor master, contracts, info records, scheduling agreements, order book, classification.
- Scheduled cutovers around plant shutdowns: master data loads over about two weeks, transactional data in one to two days; bidirectional in-house interfaces kept both ERP systems fully postable during parallel operation.
- Standardized the migration approach from project 1 to 4: reusable scripts, object, field and knowledge mappings, risk and open-issue tracking; the 2023/24 rollout consolidated the landscape as the final step before the group's global S/4HANA transition.
- Business analysis for the group-wide SAP customizing partner (SLA, Italy): gathered, specified, handed over and accepted requirements from manufacturing and logistics; also managed external system vendors and built reports for plant management.
- Owned 36 inbound and outbound interfaces: SAP R/3, high-bay warehouse, automated small-parts warehouse, laser cutting machines, saw shop, shop-floor data collection, quality management, time tracking, access control. Built machine integrations procedurally in T-SQL on Microsoft SQL Server; 1st to 3rd level support in-house, vendor escalation only in exceptional cases.

IT Application Administrator
Walterscheid GmbH (Comer Industries) · Lohmar, Germany
- Ran production and logistics applications independently right after the dual degree: support, troubleshooting and optimization across the entire portfolio.
- Set up interface support and vendor communication: qualified incidents technically and followed them through to resolution; trained end users from all departments.
- Took the first SAP migration in-house (Sohland subsidiary, approx. 3M records): originally planned to be outsourced, carried out from 04/2022 as one of two equal application managers. This is where the migration framework that sped up every later project was born.

Dual Student, B.Sc. Business Informatics: IT Application Management
Walterscheid GmbH (Comer Industries), Lohmar · CBS International Business School, Cologne
- Bachelor's thesis “Developing Data Quality Metrics”: designed measurable KPIs for assessing enterprise data quality and tested them in a case study on NetCologne incident data.
- Practical phases in requirements analysis, user support and system documentation across production, logistics and administration of an international industrial supplier.
